Paving in East Yorkshire

Paving has changed so much over the last 10 years. The most popular paving on the market are sandstone paving and porcelain paving.

Sandstone is a natural stone that comes in different colours and sizes. It comes in a variety of finishes from natural riven to a smooth and honed finish. Sandstone looks fantastic when laid and gives a more natural finish. Sandstone requires more maintenance than porcelain as it is much more porous and will need cleaning more frequently.

Porcelain is a man made tile just like the ones in your house. They are usually 20mm thick, non slip and are incredibly strong. Over the last 5 years porcelain has become much more affordable and with a huge range of designs it looks fantastic. It comes in a whole range of sizes and is much easier to clean than sandstone as it’s a lot less porous.

Garden paving solutions

Garden paving is an area that we particularly specialise in. We have extensive experience installing many different types of paving in front and back gardens. These range from block paving driveways to bespoke paving designs – using premium materials such as Portland stone, Sawn Indian sandstone, porcelain and Sawn Yorkstone.

We can advise our clients on various paving ideas and find creative solutions to their individual requirements.

The sub-base layer is key to the success of any garden paving project and we use materials that range from 300mm reinforced concrete to standard 100mm compacted MOT type 1. Depending on the specification and purpose, installation is carried out using either a compacted sand screed, a sand and cement mortar or specialist tile adhesive. We can recommend grouting and pointing options to provide a perfect finish.

Whether the paving serves a driveway or footpath, we will specify and install the correct products to the highest standards and in accordance to industry regulations.

Garden paving should always drain appropriately and be at a safe distance away from the damp proof course of any building – while accessible but invisible manholes and services can be incorporated into most paving projects.
